And if French Revolution had not happened? Here is a picture of a France that never was, where a minority of aristocrats continues today, to enslave the masses, including prohibiting the instruction. John, son of a laborer, so hard experience when police raid puts an abrupt end the following courses illegally. Imprisoned, then liberated by the Resistance, he becomes an outlaw. Clara, she was born on the right side of the fence. Yet golden life imposed on him and inequalities suffered by his country's revolt. Two characters, a common destiny: to change the world ...

Sometimes, we may legitimately wonder whether those who write the 4th know what coverage about the book. "Those who know" is an alternate history, but history is not the divergence is indicated. The French Revolution occurred, followed by the first empire, the restoration of the monarchy of July, the Second Empire and the Third Republic, Jules Ferry. And this is where the divergence is historic. Jules Ferry n'eu not have time to establish secular schools, free and compulsory since his government was overthrown by the royalists who restored the monarchy. So, education is reserved for the nobility and the people are deliberately kept in ignorance. Over a century later, in 2008 exactly, the fate of two teenagers will intersect. John is a "black neck". His fate is mapped out. At 14 he began working to help his family. Clara is part of the bourgeoisie. His destiny is to marry the husband her parents have chosen. But our two teenagers rebellious spirit. John will go out of his condition and he learned to read in secret in the underground school. Clara want to break with tradition and escape his destiny future wife of an aristocrat. While all between our two teenagers will meet, unite their strength, love and rebel against the system. "Near, Far, Wherever You Are. I Believe That The Heart Does Go On ... "

The universe described by Bordage is interesting. This modern-day France, organized as before the revolution, where technologies are reserved for the elite, is well described and very realistic. Planking had the good taste not to overwhelm the nobility too and shows that the regime put in place can not walk without the complicity of some of the people, the bourgeoisie through the police to gangs. Manichaeism base is happily avoided. And then there are some details to me great fun as R2I (Internet uchronic) relocation in the colonies, or when Clara discovers that certain inventions have been deliberately ignored by the authorities to prevent rebellions. Thus, no washing machine, the women of the people do not have time to think about anything but their own housework. However one can still regret that the author is a little too superficial on the critical social. It is also well described, this is a royalist France decor and adult audiences may be frustrated at not more. When our hero, John and Clara unfortunately they are a bit cliche. All objects, but of course they are going to end up because it's love and much stronger than toouuuut. From this point of view, it is zero surprise and unfortunately this love affair of Jack and Rose, in reference to stay in my intro, will struggle to excite an adult audience. That said, if one considers that the intended target is the Twilight is pretty good fucking

Be honest and consider the work for what it is: a young adult novel. And gender, we must recognize that AC is rather high in the basket even if the AC fails level of what may be Neil Gaiman, for example. It is well written, it is fluid, the vocabulary is searched. Reading is strong thanks to a clever cutting chapters. They are not too long, alternate regularly between Clara and Jean, each time leaving our heroes in peril what makes the reader want to continue reading. Called the end result had already appeared in large format. Not sure I find the motivation to read it soon. But in his pocket during the holidays, why not. Finally, we can not really blame one thing this novel. This is a good novel for children and no not of this second level of reading which could make it more interesting for an adult audience.
