Joseph d'Anvers - The night will never come

2024, the city of Paris is no longer the "city of light". The rain has continued for years. Endlessly, it seems like trying to flood the capital. Within this desolation, there is a bar that remained open. A simple bar. It was venue plugged into the rock scene in the past. But today, it is a greasy spoon with his regulars. Among them, there is a man sitting alone at a table. This is his last night.
Ian was the night before the singer of a rock band in the making. Their future looked bright. They already had a large number of fans. As such, Mona Cabriole decided to change his field of inquiry. It is indeed a departure from the police investigative journalism, and she plunged into the new journalism . Paradoxically, this trend dates back to 70 but fell into disuse in our age where information should go very quickly. Our reporter went on tour with the band for the sole purpose of writing a feature article on music and the wave of success that has swept over them. Shoo natural change their spots. Murders are committed during the concerts. For Mona, the wave of the suspects and the investigation begins looks very It is difficult that it is always hard to do its job when you're in love with a potential suspect.
In 2024, while played. And the answers are revealed under a curtain of rain.

The night will never come is the most unusual novels of the series. From the first pages, it plunged into a murky world and depression. One wonders where is what we are. And most importantly, we wonder where we go in the context of the series Mona Cabriole . And then we plunged back into the past and we're back in our time. Mona and ParisNew are among us and the abyss into time turns clever and intriguing. Joseph
Antwerp writing nervous. He takes us by the hand and does not stop a moment to move the pieces one by one we never realize movements. And then you have the backdrop that we plot on each page. How we got there? And why? In this novel, Mona appears in all its fragility and tenderness. A central piece in the series, and unconventional.

Olivier Brade-Cabuçon - Detective Freud

Dr. Du Barrail felt attracted by this new philosophy, by the thoughts of Freud. He then opted for psychoanalysis. Science in its infancy, it attracts charlatans eager for superiority, but also inquisitive minds. Our young French man is one of those latter. He wants to help that go wrong with fresh new ways of Austrian psychiatrist. At a conference in Weimar, he was charged by the master of a query. A colleague was murdered, and he is convinced that the answer lies in the psychoanalysis he conducted recently. From Barrail must find and understand what happened, and notify the police who wades.
Back in Paris, he began his study of records and minutes of meetings. But attempting to steal. In vain. Jung, a disciple and spiritual son of Freud, then decides to help him adjoining the services of Max Engel, an unlikely detective Marxist. This funny duet conducting the investigation more or less separately. Each uses its methods and reaches its own results. When it must meet the tracks that shocks are created. And the skirts of the past our players rose to the truth comes out. But nothing is simple when new theories confront the unspoken and stereotypes.

The book in hand, I had a reaction: "But what they have with Freud at this time?" And then I read (and enjoyed) The Interpretation of Murder Jed Rubenfeld of . By Therefore, I was a little afraid of repetition. A psychoanalyst who conducts the investigation, Jung and Freud are in the shadows ... Yet Olivier manages to avoid this pitfall with a simple device and yet devilishly effective. He created strong characters and original. Protagonists who leave the beaten track without falling into the scheme very credible. Indeed, we believe in these characters and their adventures.
If you recall, I've already talk with author Farewell to the Empire . This novel was a small flaw: too want to say he broke any rhythm of history. This defect is more here. There is always much research but the information is distilled sporadically. As a result, reading becomes interesting. And the novel paints you a time and a specific landscape.
I promise you that we will hear of this novel soon!

Cecilia Duquenne - Entrechats

A sphinx! ... This legendary animal has left the men on the day the magic has disappeared. Since that day, nobody has ever seen. We know they exist but they remain shadowy, and no existence for many people. Today, a body was found. It is a sphinx. How such a animal has been killed? And why did you kill?
Kephren biology student magical beings (ie "magibiologie"), sees him the opportunity to study these mysterious creatures for his thesis. An autopsy is ordered by the police: the killing of animals magic is punishable by law. Thanks to the influence of his brother, Kephren is mandated by the court to deal with it. He is amazed by what he finds: a huge diamond in place of the heart. The questions begin to rush through his head, but it will not find the answers. He did not have time, he is attacked and is found mortally wounded. Events are precipitated when a civil conflict scale appears between the Traditionalists and the techs. Everyone uses that to his own account. But the threat is lurking in the shadows and quietly awaits the awakening of the gods. Their anger is, and destruction will spread.

Entrechats is the first novel by Cecilia Duquenne. Incidentally, remember that this young woman barely celebrates its 22 years. I said this little item because it is a mature novel that surprises when you know this detail. She managed to see very large in shaping his world. It is similar to ours without this or copy and paste with differences to mark the occasion. No no! It creates a unique universe by mixing reality and mythological beings. The result is an entirely credible.
In addition, it allows to mix genres (thriller, adventure, fantasy ...) to draw a novel style. Suddenly, you are taken by the unfolding of the story and you can not leave the circle. Of course, I felt some small lengths. Especially in the explanations of the existence of the Sphinx or others. But this is no big deal. The overall effect is very positive.
The story and characters worked dug. So the story it is exciting.

David S. Khara - The remains of the dawn

All victims were in the same posture. Knees and hands tied behind their backs, they were executed with a bullet in the head. This is for all these dead men, well placed in society. Everyone sits in his power by his stature and his money. But they are nothing, they died. The sentence was final.
Barry Donovan is the New York cop who investigates the serial murders. He does not know where to go, what to track head. Then if there was that this investigation, things would still not too bad. But Barry is a man alone. It has not always been there but the became an accident of life. He lost everything. And like any man who has no personal life, he is drowning in work. In search of a few social connections, he got used to connect to the web. He expects the talks with his friend Werner Von Lowis.
Werner, he is old ... very old. Several centuries. It's rather simple, it is a vampire. And as such, he retired to his property underground. He believes not having the right to live among mortals. Only his discussions with Barry takes a little of his daily torpor. So when his friend speaks distractedly from his investigation, he decides to leave his cave and help. But the world today is not necessarily ready for a vampire. And the vampire is said may not be ready either to know the twenty-first century. And how will govern when Barry will know the secret of his friend? The assistance of Werner will be more problematic than saving. But the die is cast.

Yep! It's fashion for the past two years! We eat all of the vampire sauces. It's called the Bit-bed it seems! I call it fantasy literature. Nothing is invented, only a mixture of known ingredients. But this recipe is done with talent in the case of some authors.
So, I'll be honest. Starting this novel, I was afraid to read the already-read, little original. I was afraid to dive into a basic narrative. And I was wrong. David S. Khara has managed to spawn a novel surprise to all floors. First, he mixes the interests of the plot at all levels. Indeed, the survey is interesting and we want to understand why and how. But at a second level of reading, it follows the confrontation of the characters of our two main characters. All the objects. And yet, a friendship sincere and complex arises between them. A friendship that will save the life of one of them. Therefore, we are caught in the vortex until the last page.
And then a question arises: Why Werner was the only person to experience this rebirth? And I promise you that the next volume will be even more exciting. In any case, all the pieces are in place for this to be the case.
