How To Prevent Weave From Tangling In The Back

Parallel Time - Robert Silverberg

Author: Robert Silverberg
Publisher: The paperback
Pages: 317
Price: € 6.50

The latest fashion is tourism time. Visit the Rome of the Caesars, Golgotha on the day of the crucifixion of Christ, the alleys of Constantinople during the sack of the city by the Crusaders.
But do not stray from the path that was traced, otherwise disappear in a temporal paradox.
This is one of the most exhilarating novels of Robert Silverberg, one of the greatest figures in science fiction U.S..

In 2059, tourism is the temporal mode. Accompanied by a guide, visitors travel back in time to experience live the great events of history. Jud Elliott, newly built in the guild guides temporal, is a specialist of Byzantium and takes its tourists visiting the splendid Constantinople over 1000 years of history since the founding of the city, through the Crusades and the conquest of the city by the Turks. But when one of them escapes, he will realize that history as he knows has been altered. He will do everything possible works to restore its original condition.

Times is a novel parallel frankly likeable. Robert Silverberg us to explore Istanbul through a revival, as far as I can tell, seriously and effectively. He plays with temporal paradoxes without ever tripping over them, using them very playful. The novel is also tinged with eroticism and sensuality. The various protagonists of the novel advantage of travel time to seduce the greatest libertine of history.

The style is fluid and enjoyable. The story is no dead time even if it can be confusing because the action is time to arrive. The only real criticism I could make him a hero is a bit too dull. It is sometimes bumbling, seeming less comfortable with time travel and paradoxes that drive. It is even upstaged by a secondary character, Metaxas, who owns the banter and charisma he lacks both.

Anyway, this novel is a very pleasant reading. Without being extraordinary, the parallel time gives many pleasures and makes you want to continue discovering the author.

Does Nipple Piercing Hurt For Women

Alec Covin - General Hell

1861-1865: Civil War on the American continent. States that become the United States of America are experiencing a period which will mark their young history forever. A simple story of power and property. A story as old as the hills. And as in all conflicts, there is a man who takes more to heart than the others. A man not afraid of the massacres. A man called by his opponents Gen. Hell. A man named Lucius Fenryder. A man ... for now ...
2006: An author of fantasy literature, Stanley Holder, is the eye of the deadly cyclone. In an interview, he let slip an anecdote from the past. From 1933 to be exact. The story of a massacre that he told his grandmother. It should not be any witnesses. They were three. The Wolves Fenryder, set off in pursuit of the surviving witnesses. Do not stand in their way. Charlie McNeice will not pity. His favorite weapon? Your fears ...
2007: The Wolves are not just dreams, they are the companions of War General Fenryder. Vampire of modern times, it has only one desire, a dream. He wants to revive the South, and shame northerner disappear into limbo. Three people are trying somehow to prevent the occurrence of the big night, Ragnarök. They eventually chased by the authorities and the Wolves. They are guilty of being in the trap.
2011: Forrest is in prison at Ryker's Island. Sarah is still alive and escaped with the help of Lauren, who survived the 2005 massacre, and his son Scotty. Tim Moden is helped by a mysterious support. He manages to escape his pursuers. But it is surely the most affected by these events. He lost his brother, his uncle e woman he loved. He became a lone wolf who prefers lick one's wounds. But he will have to find his friends to avoid the fulfillment of the Great Night. General Hell will launch his Wolves northerner decapitate the government. The plan is ready and go. The victims are numerous and not always the same camp.

Alec Covin returns with the conclusion of his saga of the Wolves. I wanted to give you a few events since the beginning of the saga. And this simply because this novel is the finale we expected. Whoever completes a work in progress.
The first two elements are repeated and mixed so that nothing is forgotten. All outstanding issues are raised and the answers do not necessarily like us. But the talent is there Alec. He surprises us every page. The first two novels already left a lot of character with which he could play. It's not serious, but he uses it creates others. Therefore, we are left with a bunch of characters but they are all discernible, they are all individually. He can write characters, and we love them. And they are good or bad side. They are endearing. At no time, you fall into stereotypes or pathos free.
I must admit one thing. Twice I had the tears flowing. The story takes you so that you live in the guts all events to 150 per hour, and you take the walls to each chapter. He never gives in to the facility. Ever, it takes the gloves: a character must die, he dies. And without warning.
With this fourth novel (third in the series of Wolves), Alec Covin sign a work that leaves on the floor many of its competitors or colleagues. While some toil to write a novel a year and lose quality over the years, it improves with age. It has its assets less publications than others, but they are all values. Go buy
General Hell! And if you have not read the first two, take the opportunity to buy them in pocket. And get the trilogy in one go! You will not be disappointed!

How Long Does It Take For Temazepam To Come On

Darwinia - Robert Charles Wilson

Author: Robert Charles Wilson
Publisher: Folio SF
Pages: 444
Price: € 8.90

March 1912, Europe and parts of England suddenly disappear, replaced by a mainland fauna and flora not land that one does not take long to name the Darwin. For the young Guilford Law, this tragedy has nothing of a miracle or divine punishment, rather a mystery that science will ever solve. With this certainty, he will sacrifice everything to be part of the first major exploratory expedition intended to sink the heart of the unknown continent, an expedition of violent death in violent death, led him further than he could imagine. ..

Darwinia from a very good idea. One night in 1912, all Europe is replaced by a virgin and wild continent. The geography is basically the same but the fauna and flora are completely different. While in the early 20th century, religion is in decline because of, among other things, increasing scientific knowledge, many people behind this transformation by divine intervention comparable to the deluge. They even talk about Miracle.
In the early 20, an expedition is organized to explore the continent by boat up the Rhine. Their goal is to unravel the mystery of the origins of Darwin, name given to this new Europe. But the expedition goes awry. Crew members die and Guilford Law, one of the last survivors will discover the incredible truth ...

The idea was really exciting and could lead to a great novel by Jules Verne adventure, a tribute to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth with the backdrop of a confrontation between science and religion. Unfortunately, this is not the author goes on and a completely different direction. The exploration of Darwin is actually shipped quite quickly and only serves as an introduction to real story of this book is a sort of struggle between good and evil embedded in a plot unnecessarily complicated and sluggish.

During the three quarters of the novel, Robert Charles Wilson tells three stories in fact. Guilford Law so that, that of his wife and daughter in London and that of a medium in the U.S.. The three stories are supposed to join at some point to form a coherent whole. Outside it is not. The story of the woman and that of the medium ultimately did very little interest and just chop the main narrative of the coup that never found its rhythm and does not imply never drive in this strange world that is the Darwin. Moreover, the novel is regularly interrupted by interludes in which overly complicated language that I hate trying to give it all coherence. It's wordy and Robert Charles Wilson confuses the reader with obscure terms when in fact the explanation he gives us is in fact very simple and even banal.

I never got into the story and I admit I struggled to get to the end of these 444 pages. Robert Charles Wilson, who is usually so hard to build engaging characters crashes along the entire length. Those are very transparent and Guilford Law is that which the player must identify himself unable to move. Robert Charles Wilson's leg is only rarely present and Darwinia is a big disappointment for me. Fortunately the author has subsequently overtaken .

Difference Between Jordans First Release

Patrick Bateman, 27, flamboyant golden-boy of Wall Street before the crash of October 1987 is beautiful, rich and intelligent, like all his friends. He attended the finest restaurants, where it is impossible to get a reservation if there is not someone going in trendy clubs and snorting occasionally a rail of coke, like any good yuppie.

But Patrick has a little feature: it is a psychopath. Shelter in the apartment unaffordable in the midst of its latest gadgets and his furniture made of precious materials, he killed, beheaded, slaughtered, raped her. His hatred of the poor, gay men and women is unlimited, and his humor cold is the only trace of humanity that we can find him.

Making an adaptation of American Psycho was a risky business, for me the novel is inadequate. Indeed, while the book puts us in the heart of the darkest thoughts of Patrick Bateman, the film may not, by definition, we reduce our role as spectators outside. How come then transcribe the screen all the complexity of the character? The disappointment was inevitable.

The film is actually a good pale reflection of what the book. The director, Mary Harron, has chosen to focus his story on the murders and schizophrenic delusions of Patrick Bateman and minimize social criticism. While in the book, you wait almost half of the story that starts killing Bateman, this happens very quickly in the film. The entire first part containing the character's life, punctuated by his dinners at the restaurant, its clubbing, its consumption of cocaine is shipped. We find of course some chokepoints such as the comparison of cards, the ritual of the shower. There are some descriptions of clothing, enumerations luxury brands but it is minimalist. When the scenes of violence, they are discreetly shown. Do not expect to find the outrageous gore in the book. Only a few splashes of blood evidence of massacres. As for the most violent scenes from the book (cannibalism, infanticide, rape, torture) they have simply disappeared. It had to be expected, the film was rated X otherwise.

But despite that, I confess that I still managed to enjoy this film for what it is. Certainly, history is redacted from what it was more shocking, certainly shortcuts are taken huge to fit 527 pages into a movie of 102 minutes, but the film is brought to an arm's length by Christian Bale who plays Patrick Bateman extraordinary to perfection. All the madness of the character is evident in his interpretation. I doubt anyone who has not read the book arrives to pick up the pieces of this patchwork implementation. But I, having just closed the book, I found my account.

Anyway, nothing can replace reading this extraordinary novel what American Psycho. If you've never read, give him his chance, he deserves it. When the film, it is nice to look for the interpretation of Christian Bale, the rest being too bland to titillate our appetite for deviant and subversive films.

American Psycho American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis

Author: Bret Easton Ellis
Publisher: 10/18
Pages: 527
Price: € 10

"I am creative, I'm young, [...] highly motivated and extremely efficient. In other words, I am fundamentally essential to society. "
With his predatory smile and chic suits, Patrick Bateman is the typical profile of a young Yuppie Trump for years. As his associates in the Chemical Bank, he is a ruthless ambition. Like his friends, his pace evenings cocktails breaks cocaine. The only difference is that Patrick Bateman violates torture and kill. At night, he reveals his dual personality by assaulting bystanders, tramps, or even a friend. But it never feels anything. Just a slight annoyance when his scripts are not going exactly as planned ...

"Abandon all hope, you who enter here" is not saying, quite rightly, that begins American Psycho, a novel shock years 90. Indeed, American Psycho is a thriller, cynical, desperate, who speaks of an America, that of the 80's, that of money, stock market, the Reagan years, symbolized by Patrick Bateman, a young Golden Boy working in a bank near Wall Street. It is rich, greedy and materialistic, obsessed with his physical appearance. He spends hours each day in sports clubs, spends a fortune on designer clothes and beauty treatments, dine every evening in the best restaurants, most exclusive, most popular, along with his friends, all of the same medium . And at night he turns into bloodthirsty psychopath. He kills, he violates it torture. He chose his victims randomly and give free rein to his impulses, more and more violent, more and more extreme.

The book, written almost entirely in first person, we plunged into the deepest thoughts of his hero. A cold be obsessed with sex and serial killers like Ted Bundy or Charles Bronson, he is able to call in the middle of the most innocuous conversations. He has no friends, just relationships, from the same social and professional, he meets every day without being able to name them. He has a girlfriend, Evelyn, but they do not like each other and stay together only for questions social status. Patrick Bateman is incapable of feeling any emotion for anyone. Individuals not interested, they do not exist. Moreover, nowhere in the book there are physical descriptions of people alongside Patrick Bateman. The only thing we know about them is the luxury brands of clothes that lists Bateman tirelessly at each meeting.

"Price sees Ted Madison, leaning against the railing at the back of the room, dressed in a tuxedo wool twill, with a collar shirt Paul Smith, with a bow tie and cummerbund to home Rainbow Neckwear, cufflinks Trianon diamond, shoes and leather grosgrain Ferragamo, and an antique watch, Hamilton, at Saks. "

At first, Patrick Bateman does not seem different from his friends. It is a caricature of American yuppies, neither better nor worse than them. But as and when his dark side broke, gently at first, turning a remark, a thought. Then, over Patrick abusing drugs and alcohol, the more dark side is growing in importance. Bateman quickly proves to be racist, homophobic and misogynistic. And when the murders begin climbing it to the bloody horror of absolute. The killings are becoming more violent, more and more excessive. Bateman kills anyone, tramps, prostitutes, friends, even a child. It engages in rape, torture of a sadistic extreme acts of cannibalism. All these horrors are described coldly, without emotion, in the same manner as described in closets of his friends. At last we come to doubt the reality. Bateman is in such a schizophrenic delusion that it is impossible to differentiate between the real and fantasized.

"Back in the room. Christie was lying on the bed Japanese, attached to the feet of the bed, tied up with rope, arms above the head of the pages of Vanity Fair last month pushed into the mouth. Two electrical cables, connected to a battery, are fixed on her breasts, which took a brown tint. "

This book is that of all the excesses of all scandals. It is the novel that earned its author, Bret Easton Ellis, his bad reputation and many death threats at the same time. It is a visceral novel takes the reader by the throat and plunges into the madness of his main character, is forced to watch America the money straight in the eye, in all its most despicable and inhuman. It's gory, it's vulgar, even pornographic. And at the same time, it is a deeply funny book, full of humor, of course black and cynical.

"While selling records purchases of Charles I play with the baby that Nancy is in her arms, handing him my American Express platinum card that tries to catch a greedy little hand, but I shake head, taking a high-pitched voice and pinched his chin, waving the card in front of his face chirping: "But yes, I am a murderer, and I'm a psychopath, but yes, You see, I like to kill people, oh yes, I like that, my love, my little smart, oh I like it ... ""

is a humor-based comic repetition, absurd situations, shifts between a situation and the perception of Patrick Bateman. Such as permanent confusion of identities that appear regularly throughout the book. All these bankers know coexist but can not remember their names. It matter anyway, they are all identical. Or as this little cruel games which are engaged Patrick and his friends and that is to humiliate them bums holding out a ticket or by throwing a remark meant to funny. Or as the excuse to bring in video tapes club that Patrick uses whenever it wants to slip away. Of course, in fact tape is that it is murder. Or the Patty Winters Show that Patrick Bateman look every morning. Show touting dubious subjects. "Rambo is, I met him," Possibility of nuclear war, "" Big Breasts "...

" There was a woman who had breast reduction because she was too Important - this poor fool. Immediately I called McDermott, who also watched the show, and we spent the rest of the sequence to make fun of the woman. "

American Psycho is a novel one, a UFO literature. This is not an easy reading and it can easily offend some sensibilities. It is a novel that takes effort from the reader, effort rewarded a hundredfold. This is a novel of incredible wealth that has much more to offer than sex and violence. It's funny and cruel. Making fun of what is vile is not an easy art, but Bret Easton Ellis proficiently. It's a look acid and some concessions on America, over a company that puts money before human beings, who think those who have no Rolex or fifty years have not succeeded in life. And if we had to find a moral to all this, it could be best summarized by two words that conclude the book. "Hopeless."

Ledun Marino - East Zone

"My name is Thomas Zigler. I can tell you little about your future. All I can tell you is the following : 18 December 2010, a scientific catastrophe was triggered. The various experiments on nanotechnology have produced the same result. The nanovirus have spread faster than the worst flu epidemic and we quickly found with bodies devoured and lost. The human condition is different today. Welcome to the Eastern Zone.
is my home. I have always lived here before the big day And I stayed. The authorities quickly built a wall ... for our protection so it seems. I think not much, I just do my job. I steal people's memories that I will be designated. And I deliver to my sponsors. It's simple and well paid. And it's even easier with the various implants that replace our bodies devoured by the virus.
A simple life ... Finally ... Until I saw this mission ... or I thought I saw ... a human without implants. Full ... be spared by the virus. Is this really possible? ... Anyway, those are my heels seem to take it seriously. "

After masterfully led his thrillers, Marin Ledun wanted something new. As a reader, I am always for. But (yes there is a but ...) we must be careful. It's not so easy to change gender predilection. Sometimes the fall is painful.
Here he brings us a novel of advance in the line of Philip K. Dick. We find this spirit of paranoia where everyone seems to watch you and watch you. Paranoia helped by technological advances. But Marino will add his personal touch: commercialism and aggressive marketing. It plunges us into a world believable and not so distant from us. A city where advertising is customized to the person who will receive it. But would not this what happens on the internet today? ... When I tell you it is not so far.
And we Marino lays mainly a novel in which suspense is king. Written in first person, we dive head first into the life of Thomas Zigler. It is simply part of life post-nanoaccident. He did his job that's all. And then, an event made him rethink his life and that of his fellow citizens. By this simple dramatic device, the author manages to make us think about our current situation. So
Ledun Marino has succeeded brilliantly. And you're hungry to play another shift register Marino.

Tron Legacy

Sam Flynn, 27, is the son of the technology expert Kevin Flynn. Seeking to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of his father, he finds himself sucked into that same world of formidable programs and deadly games where it lives for 25 years. With the loyal confidante of Kevin, father and son embark on a journey where death lurks through a visually stunning cyber world, become more technologically advanced and more dangerous than ever ...

Tron Legacy is the result of Tron, the cult film of 1982 whose main interest is to have been a precursor in digital special effects. It follows Sam Flynn, son of the great inventor Kevin Flynn, the hero of the first game, which goes in search of his father disappeared years ago. Alerted by a message, Sam visits the former office of his father and finds himself integrated into the virtual world where he is imprisoned for 25 years. Kevin and Sam will work together to combat Clu, the digital double of the father, a despot who rules over this virtual world.

The main problem with Tron Legacy is to be the result of Tron and being locked in a straitjacket too rigid, ending up at once in a year compulsory figures rather than in a free program. If I were to use a language of gamers, with hard about this movie so much he refers to this world, I would say that Legacy is a Tron Tron 2.0. If the graphics have been improved and modernized the gameplay, it remains fundamentally the same game It includes the phases that are required of motorcycle racing and combat record in a 3D mode that does not bring enough new blood to avoid a feeling of repetition.

The film is not helped by his minimalist scenario which shamelessly recycles themes rehashed without make nine: the relationship father / son, the creator and his creature, utopia. The characters are too shallow to cause any concerns and we feel empathy for them. Garrett Hedlund in the role of Sam Flynn is too monolithic. It crosses the events that these would not really seem to affect it. Jeff Bridges in the role of Kevin Flynn is at the edge of pathos in this leadership role hippie Buddhist overtones. Even when it appears in the guise of Clu, the war is convincing. The digital facelift supposed to rejuvenate 25 years makes him look like a wax mannequin. What was he doing in that galley? And the few good ideas that could bring some new features are under-exploited or killed in the bud as isos, so programs spontaneously born in this digital world.

The film has not much to say, it puts the packet on the visual side. And it is true that in some ways we take in his eyes except that this universe before us is a melting pot of the major science fiction films that have marked the genre past 40 years .. . 1984, THX 1138, 2001, Blade Runner, Matrix, Star Wars ... All spend some time or another and for Star Wars and Matrix, it is even beyond Stage influence. It's a real organized looting that takes place without shame in front of the viewer. The concept of grid replaces the matrix, Sam is a mix between Luke Skywalker and Neo (he was elected). Somehow Kevin Flynn is a reinterpretation of Obiwan Kenobi, Clu is an ersatz Palpatine. Quora is a clone of Leila. As the famous princess, she is the last of his people. There's even a Darth Vader, a former Jedi Knight spent the dark side of force. As for the scenes showing Clu raising his army, they think the armies of clones of the second trilogy ...

However, I can not help but think that this film could have been very good. With a little more daring and a real director there was a way to do anything offering both entertainment and reflection. It would have required more isos develop, propose other games as fighting hard or racing bikes (why not SPF) and especially to give more substance to the characters. Unfortunately, the film is flawed. His pace sulfur too long scenes chatter between moments of action. The emotion is never too late and has agreed. Tron Legacy does not surprise the viewer and the two hours during which the film sometimes seem very long. The soundtrack, composed by Daft Punk, is perhaps the only real appreciation of the film. Although sometimes false Vangelis tunes (listen to the song Arrival), it is the only film that really happens to stand out and offer from time to time that extra something that is sorely lacking in film.

Too winded in narrative, as the eldest, Tron Legacy will not even have the satisfaction of becoming a cult, technical prowess is no longer there to get him out of the lot. Tron Legacy is a film studio missing terribly daring, entertainment calibrated too, a film that will appear certainly no genius very kitsch in recent years.

The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway

Author: Ernest Hemingway
Publisher:
Folio Pages: 149
Price: € 4.60

You want my dead fish, "thought the old man. It is your right. Comrade, I've never seen anything bigger, or more noble, or calmer, or more beautiful than you. Go, go, kill me. I do not care which one of us kills the other. What am I saying? he thought. Now I'm off track. Must keep a cool head. Keeps a cool head and endure your pain like a man. Or like a fish.

Classic American Literature, Pulitzer Prize 1953, Nobel Prize 1954, the Old Man and the Sea tells the story of Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman who has caught nothing for 84 days. Santiago fished before with a young boy, Manolin. But it was forced by his father to leave Santiago, accused of bringing bad luck, and engage in the crew of a sinner more important. So in this 85th day without fish, like every morning, alone with his hand Santagio boat facing the sea in the hope of a miraculous catch of fish which would restore the esteem of all. It starts far offshore, where he knows he can catch a big fish. And when the fish finally bites, Santiago realizes that this is the biggest swordfish he had ever seen. The battle between the old man and the fish begins. It will last three days. Three intense days after which the old man, with courage and selflessness, will succeed in defeating his opponent. Unfortunately, while Santiago brings his catch, the sharks begin to attack. Santiago will throw his last forces in this ultimate battle against predators ...

Told like this, this story does not seem cavorting but make no mistake, the old man and the sea is a little gem full of poetry. It is a book that speaks of humility, courage, dignity, self respect, very simple, with the words of an old Cuban fisherman. The style is simple but direct. It goes right to the heart. Hemingway wrote this book while traveling in Cuba and so he has a side almost documentary. We guess that the old sinner had to exist, that his newspaper was that of many other sinners. The descriptions are almost photographic.

The old man was thin and dry, with rides like a knife on her neck. Brown spots of this harmless skin cancer caused by the reflection of sunlight on the sea Tropical marked his cheeks and they almost entirely covered both sides of his face and his hands bore the deep cuts made by ropes at the end of which is discuss the heavy fish. But none of these cuts was recently: they were as old as erosions in a fishless desert.

This impression is reinforced by the absence of chapters. Very short, less than 150 pages, the book should ideally read in one sitting. The Old Man and the Sea is an invitation to travel and discover a book tender and cruel, to read and reread without moderation.

Pathways to Freedom of Speech

In 1940 a small group of prisoners decided to escape from a Siberian labor camp. For these men from all walks of life, escape from this hell will be only the beginning of the adventure ...
Together they travel over 6000 miles across the Siberian tundra ice, crossing the plains of Mongolia, furnaces in the Gobi desert and the peaks of the Himalayas to cross the Great Wall of China. Some
stop along the way, others will not survive the tests. India - then under British control - is the ultimate goal.
But the road is long, risky encounters, the appalling physical conditions, and each has its secrets ...

Eight years is the time it took to wait to review a film by Peter Weir on screens. It must be said that after the commercial failure of Master and Commander, less than 100 million of revenue in the country of Uncle Scrooge with a budget of 150 million, the Australian director was blown. But obviously, the financiers of Hollywood have short memories because Peter Weir returns to our delight with this adaptation of the novel Slavomir Rawicz, supposedly from a true story ... To our delight? Not quite, unfortunately.

Indeed, if history could give hope for a great movie with adventure, emotion, tragic fates and outstanding, all filmed in beautiful landscapes, the Siberian taiga, the plains of Mongolia, the Gobi desert, the Himalayas, the result is more than disappointing. Peter Weir has shut in an academic who can leave room for emotion. The viewer sees these escapees walk tirelessly, a monotonous and bored with them. It does not happen much and the few episodes are not very interesting. When difficulties arise, our protagonists are still, as if by magic silver bullet that will bail them out. And when at the end, some end up dying anyway, it is in general indifference. Peter Weir never managed to break this bad rhythm in which the film was locked.

The cast, there is Ed Harris, far too rare these days, which replays for 13 years after Peter Weir The Truman Show. Always perfect, it is the only one to succeed at the game Strurgess Jim, I had discovered in Across the Universe, is too smooth. He does what he does little but never convincing. Colin Farrell in the role of a Russian gangster with 2 IQ is not highlighted. His role led him to rant and then it would be the hard, cold and ruthless, he does more laughing than anything else in this caricature of Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises. When the young Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, Lovely Bones) it is transparent.

short, on his return, Peter Weir fired a shot into the water and its paths to freedom are indeed very long. Damage.

How Does Meagan Good Do Her Hair

Based on the true story and ignored the father of the current Queen Elizabeth, who will become constrained and forced the King George VI (Colin Firth), following the abdication of his brother Edward VIII (Guy Pearce). In appearance weak, unable to speak in public, seen by some as unfit for office, George VI attempt to overcome his disability through the unwavering support of his wife (Helena Bonham Carter) and confront his fears with the help of a speech therapist (Geoffrey Rush) to unconventional methods. He must overcome his stuttering to fully assume its role and make his empire the first bulwark against Nazi Germany.

The speech of a king is one of those films that are carried by the interpretation of their main player. Without Colin Firth, dazzling in the unlikely role of King, the film does not exist. It's not underestimate the other actors, moreover excellent, as to say that but a good biopic needs to be transcended by its lead actor.

Sure, a speech that King will not revolutionize the biopic. It is even fully anchored in the codes of the genre but he manages to succeed at the game because in addition to stunning performance by Colin Firth, the fate of this man is fascinating. One that should not be King, the stutterer who were considered stupid and unable to be found overnight in the skin of a monarch governing nearly half the globe and to embody the pride of a people and the resistance against Nazi Germany.

However, this is all a bit too good. The good King George VI presented under the best days, brave face disability, responsible to his office, uncompromising face of Nazism. But when looking around, it seems that everything is not as bright. Churchill (poorly played by Timothy Spall) and George VI himself was not always faultless vis-à-vis the Nazis. As always in this kind of film you tend to cut corners. After all it is the father of the current Queen of England we are talking about ...

Anyway, The Speech of a King is a good movie. It's funny and touching. The housewives under 50 will love. It is very well understood. Colin Firth is out for the Oscar for best actor, it does not make a doubt. By cons, if you go see this movie, then do not especially for vf. In general, the vo is always preferable but if you must see only one movie vo, it is that the. How to assess the performance of Colin Firth with a liner that is more monstrous?

The Best And Most Reliable Laptops

The King breccia - Christophe Lambert

Author: Christopher Lambert
Publisher: Pocket
Pages: 309
Price: € 6.90

2060. Private Network A great revival of the concept reality TV by sending reporters to film in the past events of the twentieth century. The choice fell on the landing in Normandy to rekindle the flame of patriotic viewers. Foway, June 5, 1944: with forged papers, a reporter and a historian mingle with the masses of foot soldiers who boarded the ships of the invasion fleet. Soon the men of the future come to the French coast and attending the apocalyptic spectacle that takes place there. The horror the war is real. But at the heart of sound and fury, an error is soon here ...

The gap is not really an alternate history. Christopher Lambert does not care about consequences of historical differences but to the cause. It was the birth of a possible alternate history which is told in this novel.

We're in 2060, when the time travel is a reality. It is even a television show. A chain, KWN, offers viewers in its flagship show "You were there" to relive the major events of the 20th century: the assassination of JFK James Dean's death, the "suicide" of Marilyn Monroe. Scattered brains of a president, the coffin of steel with a star, the misfortunes of a sex symbol are thrown as food to millions of viewers, as an offering to God ratings. But the god is capricious and seems to sulk his worshipers in recent broadcasts. Hearings are in freefall. Fortunately, a young ambitious idea of genius. And if the next issue was to part the allied landing in Normandy and Omaha Beach more precisely. Imagine, two envoys of the future living in the largest direct slaughter of the 20th century. Tripe, blood, heroism, all this broadcast as a special event, 24 hours ..... It would be a hit ... Except that not everything goes as planned and that the two time travelers will change over time. Two future will compete. In one, they are the allies won the war and in the other it is the Germans. Two future, but only one will remain ...

The breach is a thrilling novel that takes readers to the gut and throat from the first pages, never to let go. Before devoting himself to writing, Christophe Lambert has worked in the audiovisual world. He obviously does not keep a very high opinion of the medium and engaging in this novel a satire full of acid and cynicism of reality TV. The line is bigger, but certainly exudes lived through certain situations, certain dialogues that score.

- Still, Kauffman Loraine grimace. The landing is very bloody ...
Benton is hot. It keeps them. He'll eat.
- With all the respect I owe you, miss, "replied he, I remind you that our best score of hearing is the brain of JFK that flutters at idle under eleven different axes.

Fielding is seeking an intern eyes. Smile, he is preparing to berate the first stooge who will in his field of vision.
Nothing better to relieve stress before the antenna!

Subsequently, after the jump in time made, Christophe Lambert puts us in the shoes of a soldier on D-Day. The reconstruction is very elaborate, full details on this have been like these men both physically and psychologically. The pace is breathless. It's written like a movie, without downtime. We believe it. And the final battle, Dante, is worthy of the best Hollywood blockbusters.

Unfortunately, the book down as the end. The author seems eager to conclude. And above it falls into the trap the temporal paradox. What I say ... He does not fall in there jumping in with both feet. And the option he chooses to fall back on its feet is flawed. It's the same barrel that Terminator where John Connor can not reasonably be older than his father. Another criticism, Christophe Lambert reserve for one of his characters overly nunuche an end and ease shameful. Fortunately, the book is concluded with an epilogue a tasty cynicism where the author goes there for a final picnic cons television.

Despite this, I can only recommend this book. The final disappointment, however relative, can not blur the qualities of this novel. Funny, cynical, fast-paced, rhythmic, pleasurable, generous. He readily forgives his faults and is savoring his qualities.

How Much Money Do I Need To Own A Platypus

Superman: Red Son - Mark Millar

Writer: Mark Millar
Designers: Dave Johnson & Killian Plunkett
Publisher: DC Comics
Pages: 160
Price: $ 17.99

strange visitor from another world. Able to alter the course of rivers, twisted steel with bare hands and, as a hero of the workers, is fighting endless for Stalin, socialism and the worldwide expansion of the Warsaw Pact. In this amazing version of a familiar story, a Kryptonian rocket crashes to Earth with a baby on board who will one day be the most powerful on the planet. But the ship does not land in America. The child does not grow in Smallville, Kansas, but in a collective farm in Soviet Union! Mark Millar, writer of The Authority and Wanted delivers a very personal interpretation of the myth of Superman.

Whether at Marvel (the series of What if?) Or in DC (Elseworlds), the world of comics has long fed stories reinventing the reality of his heroes, imagining what their destiny would have been if at some point in their lives they had made different decisions. It is in this tradition that fits Superman: Red Son by transposing the son of Krypton in the USSR Communist Stalin, which was not an easy undertaking contrary to what one might think. Indeed, the United States, Superman is an icon. It is part of American popular culture and see it fly the hammer and sickle was something sacrilegious.

Superman: Red Son is a comic book into three parts that takes place over six decades. The story begins in the early 50's when Stalin showed the world the existence of Superman. It is a symbol of the power of the USSR and an ambassador of communism. At first, Superman is not interested in politics. He wants only the happiness of mankind. But Stalin's death, he will take responsibility. Sure Communism is the solution to lasting peace in the world, Superman will continually convince other countries to join him in his fight for a utopian society. But as the proverb says, hell is paved with good intentions. Utopia and Superman soon to turn into dystopia. As a Big Brother, Superman control with an iron fist the Communist world and does not hesitate to re-educate the dissidents. Only Lex Luthor, the smartest man in the world, manages to stand against him.

This story is downright fun to read. Mark Millar (Wanted, Kick-ass, Ultimate X-Men), manages to deliver a story that will appeal to both regulars and newcomers the DC universe. Besides Superman, you meet many famous people. Some have an important role as Wonder Woman, Batman as a leader of Russian resistance, Lex Luthor President of the United States or Green Lantern. Others do a brief stint as Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and Barry Allen (Flash) in the Daily Globe reporter Jimmy Olsen in the CIA, and even Bizarro Superman Kryto the dog (you'll find ?). Although the story is fairly conventional, Mark Millar tries to go beyond the super heroic and addresses topics which have a glance to Orwell and 1984. It quite refreshing for a comic, especially featuring Superman, although we must recognize that Millar does not fit deep in the criticism of the totalitarian system.

Graphically, it is superb. I love the work done by Johnson and Plunkett. At first, when Stalin was in power, both artists were inspired by drawings of Soviet propaganda. The dominant colors are dark to bring out shades of red. And then gradually as Superman sets his utopian society, colors are bright and flashy to show the world is saying " perfect "but too slick and sterile.

short, Superman Red Son is a comic that I really like. It's a different view of this super hero that we all know. Darker, more tormented, more adult, this comic is likely to appeal to both genre fans and newcomers or those who do not like Superman for his own side sir. It is well written, beautifully drawn. And nothing to spoil the ending is quite clever. Mark Millar was one time proposed to Warner (which owns DC Comics) an idea of the film adaptation of Superman in three films. The project has unfortunately not been successful and it a shame given the vision that Mark Millar's character.
